On this week’s show we pay tribute to our MEMORIAL DAY holiday in a musical sort of way.
We also introduce new releases including the wonderful previously unreleased Duke Ellington -NEW YORK, NEW YORK. Gene Bertoncini has an outstanding new release-CONCERTI. My favorite female jazz small group is Five Play & their new release on Arbors is outstanding.
Kris Gale, Tedd Firth & Harry Allen also have wonderful new recordings.
I continue to be amazed at the high quaility of Japanese women piano players and my newest find is among the best in this long tradition-Chihiro Yamanaka deserves your attention.
We honor the memories of Georgie Auld, Artie Shaw,Miles Davis & Joe Pass.
Enjoy the best of the best.

I’ll be emceeing the Glendale Jazz Festival this friday! Should be a great show with great performances from the St. Louis Stompers traditional Dixieland Band. Gumbohead will bring funky New Orleans and Zydeco style music too.
Festival favorite Terry Thompson, the founder and producer of the event, will perform with his Swing Alive Band and its swinging brand of jazz. The band will feature vocalists Sherry Drake and Dean Christopher.
Come on out and enjoy the great show!

This week’s show introduces our “live”broadcast. This means we are originating our show locally and relaying it to the web.
You will hear the show with no commercials, even if you don’t have a VIP account.
This week, we mostly feature new releases with a bit of historical recording dates thrown in for good measure.
My pick for cd of the year thus far is Marilyn Scott’s new cd-Everytime We Say Goodbye. She has always impressed me but this one is a “knockout”.
I am always partial to music from the Duke but New York. New York has all gems that have never been released before now-thanks to my good friend-Bjarne Busk for sharing his collection with us all.
Another new release, which is of special importance is Marcus Shelby Jazz Orchestra musical Tribute to Harriet Tubman-a true hero in American history.
These & many others prove that Jazz is alive & well.
Join our new FM radio show which streams live every Friday night 10 pm-1 am cdt on CLASSIC99.COM & our 2nd television segment also streams 24/7 at HECTV.ORG
For your information, our website was down over the weekend, due to technical difficulties with our web hosting provider. All is well now. Thanks for your patience.
